Swaps & changes
Swap a meal
If a meal does not appeal, swap it. Open the meal from Today or Upcoming and tap Swap.
Choosing a replacement
The sheet is headed Swap meal and offers, in order:
- A search box across the full meal catalogue, if you already know what you want.
- Recommended for this slot, split into meals you have ingredients for and meals that need extra ingredients. The second group tells you how many extra items you would need to buy, so you can keep the shop small.
A meal you have previously thumbed down still appears, flagged with a note that you said you did not like it. You are choosing for yourself here, so Bolus shows it rather than hiding it.
How far the swap reaches
Before you confirm, pick the scope:
- This slot changes that one meal.
- First 5 days applies it to the same meal type across the first five days of the plan.
- Every day uses it for that meal type all week.
The wider two are useful for breakfast or lunch, where many people are happy to repeat.
“First 5 days” means the first five days of your plan, counted from its start date. If your week starts on a Wednesday, that is Wednesday to Sunday, not Monday to Friday.
What happens next
Your shopping list updates to match. If the swap moved the outgoing meal elsewhere in the week, or repeated one you already had, Bolus tells you so with a short confirmation.
What you cannot swap
- A meal you have already marked as eaten, skipped or eaten out. Clear the status first.
- Individual ingredients. Bolus swaps whole meals; it does not edit a recipe.
There is no limit on how many meals you can swap.
