Swaps & changes
Change portion and household size
Two settings control quantities, and they do different jobs. Both live in Settings, under Planning.
Household size
How many people you are cooking for. It sets the number of servings each recipe makes, and therefore how much of each ingredient lands on your shopping list.
Portion size
How much a single serving is, relative to a standard one. Regular (1.0×) is the default. Turn it up if the portions leave you hungry, down if you are throwing food away.
What changes when you change them
Both apply to your current plan straight away:
- Ingredient quantities on every meal re-scale.
- Your shopping list is rebuilt to match, in sensible pack sizes.
- Anything you had already marked as bought stays marked.
You do not need to rebuild anything by hand.
Changing household size mid-week can leave you with ingredients bought for the old quantities. Those are not wasted: the list keeps track of what you already have.
Which one to change
If the amount of food is right but there are too many or too few of you, change household size. If the number of people is right but the plates are wrong, change portion size.
