Connecting

Fix a CGM that needs reconnecting

If your glucose stops flowing in, Bolus tells you. Here is what the states mean and how to fix them.

Reconnect needed

If Bolus shows a banner asking you to reconnect, your monitor’s connection has dropped, usually because the login needs refreshing. Tap Open on the banner, or go to Settings and reconnect:

  • FreeStyle Libre: re-enter your LibreLinkUp login. If it keeps failing, sign in to a Libre app once to check your account is fine and any new terms are accepted.
  • Dexcom: check the Dexcom app is still writing to Apple Health, and that Bolus still has permission to read Blood Glucose in the Health app.

Readings look stale

Bolus marks your data stale if it has not seen a new reading for a while. This happens sooner for Dexcom than for Libre, because of how each one syncs. A fresh reading clears it automatically, so often it sorts itself out once your phone and monitor catch up.

Remember that Dexcom readings arrive about three hours behind through Apple Health, so a gap at the most recent end of the chart is normal rather than a fault.

Still not working

If reconnecting does not help, or the connection drops again straight away, get in touch at support@bolus.health and tell us which monitor you use.
