Mark what you ate

Tapping Ate on a meal tells Bolus you had it. It takes one tap and it is the single most useful thing you can do in the app.

Why it matters

What you mark feeds three things:

  • Your Insights. Only meals you actually ate count towards your food quality and nutrition figures. See what Insights shows.
  • Your weekly review. The review starts from what you marked, so there is less to confirm at the end of the week. See what the weekly review is.
  • Your next week. Meals that land well are more likely to come back.

If you forget

You do not have to mark anything at the time. Bolus fills in sensible defaults for meals that have gone well past their planned time, and the weekly review gives you the whole week in one screen to correct in a few taps.

You can also change a meal’s status later from the weekly review, or from the meal itself.

Meal times

Each meal has a planned time, shown as a badge in the day’s list. If you ate at a different time and your CGM is connected, you can correct it on the meal so your glucose lines up with the right meal. See how your meals affect your glucose.

Thumbs up, thumbs down

Separately from marking a meal eaten, the thumbs on the meal card tell Bolus what you thought of the food itself. A thumbs down means Bolus stops planning it. See what your ratings do.
