How your data is handled

What data Bolus collects

This is a plain summary of what Bolus holds. The full, authoritative detail is in the Privacy Notice.

What Bolus holds

  • Your account: the email tied to your Apple sign-in, and your first name.
  • Your preferences: how you like to eat, diet and allergens, portions, household size, meal times, and cooking effort.
  • Optional health details: your diabetes type, sex at birth, date of birth, activity level, height and weight, whether you take weight-loss medication, and your goal.
  • Your weeks: your plans, shopping lists, and what you did with each meal.
  • Glucose readings: only if you connect a CGM.
  • Movement and weight: your steps, workouts, active energy, heart figures and weight, only if you connect Apple Health.
  • Your conversations with Emily, and any agreements made in them, if you use her.

What Bolus does not collect

  • No payment details. Your subscription is billed by Apple, so Bolus never sees or stores your card details. See how payment works.
  • No food diary or calorie logging. The only thing Bolus records about your eating is whether you marked each planned meal as eaten, skipped, or eaten out.
  • No browsing, location, contacts, photos, or microphone. The only things Bolus asks for on your device are Apple Health, for the categories you grant, and notifications. See permissions Bolus asks for.

Why it is collected

Everything above is used to build your weeks, keep your shopping in step, and show you your own information back. To see who, if anyone, it is shared with, read where your data is stored and who can see it.
