How Bolus learns

What your ratings do

Liking and disliking meals is the main way you steer Bolus. It is worth doing, because it has a direct effect on what you get.

Liking a meal

Tap the thumbs-up on a meal to like it. Liked meals are favoured in future weeks, and Bolus leans towards similar things too. Liking is the way to make a meal come up more often. There is no separate “save” or “pin”, so a thumbs-up is the tool for “more like this”.

Disliking a meal

Tap the thumbs-down to dislike a meal. Disliked meals are ruled out and will not come back. This is the most reliable way to get rid of a specific dish you do not want, even when it is not a whole food type you can exclude in settings.

When ratings count

Bolus pays attention to how you felt about meals you actually ate. A meal you skipped because a night got busy is not treated as a dislike, so you will not lose a meal you liked just because you did not get to it once.

If you want to avoid a broad category of food, like fish or dairy, set that in your food preferences instead. See how Bolus chooses your meals.
