Permissions Bolus asks for

Bolus asks for very little on your device. There are two, and both are optional.

Notifications

Bolus asks to send notifications just after you sign in. These are how it tells you when your new week is ready and when it is time for your weekly review. You can turn them on or off any time in your iPhone Settings, under Bolus.

Apple Health

Bolus asks for Health access twice, for two separate things, and you can grant either, both or neither:

  • Blood Glucose, if you connect Dexcom. That is the only Health data the CGM connection reads.
  • Steps, workouts, active energy, heart figures and weight, if you connect Exercise. See connect Apple Health.

Everything is read-only: Bolus never writes anything back to Health. You control it all in the Health app, under Browse, then Data Access & Devices, then Bolus, where each category has its own switch.

If you use FreeStyle Libre, that connects through your LibreLinkUp login rather than Apple Health, so the glucose permission is not needed.

What Bolus never asks for

Bolus does not ask for your location, camera, microphone, contacts, or photos. If you ever see a request for any of those claiming to be from Bolus, do not grant it, and let us know at support@bolus.health.

To change what data Bolus holds, see manage or delete your data.
