Set up the app
Finish onboarding and set your food preferences
Setup takes about two minutes. Everything you set here shapes your first week, and you can change all of it later in Settings.
What Bolus asks
- Your goal. What you most want Bolus to help with, such as eating more healthily or feeling more in control around food.
- A bit about you. Your name and mobile number, and some optional health details like your diabetes type. These are optional and help Bolus understand your context.
- How you eat. Whether you eat everything or follow a diet like vegetarian, vegan, or pescatarian.
- Anything to avoid. Allergens to keep out of every plan, and foods you would rather not see.
- What sounds good. A quick swipe through meal cards where you like the ones that appeal and pass on the rest. This gives Bolus a feel for your taste before it has any other feedback.
- Portions and variety. Whether you want smaller or larger portions, and how much you want the plan to repeat familiar meals or mix things up.
- Effort and timing. How much time you want to spend cooking, and roughly when you eat each meal.
- Household. How many people you are feeding, so shopping quantities are right.
Allergens are always excluded
Anything you mark as an allergen is kept out of every plan. For other foods you would simply rather avoid, the surest way to steer the plan is to dislike meals as they come up. See how Bolus chooses your meals.
Then your first week is built
When you tap Start my first week, Bolus puts together your plan and its shopping list. You will see a short “putting your first week together” screen, then your week.
If you use a glucose monitor, the last step offers to connect it. See connecting your CGM during setup.
