What Ask will not do

There are questions Ask will not answer, and it is not being evasive. Bolus is not a medical device and gives no dosing guidance, and that line is drawn firmly inside Ask.

Insulin and medication

Ask a question about how much insulin to take, how to adjust a dose, or how to correct a reading, and Ask will say it cannot help with that and point you back to your care team. It will not give a number, a ratio, or a rule of thumb, however the question is phrased.

That is the boundary working, not the app failing.

What else is out of scope

• Diagnosis, or interpreting a symptom.
• Changing a medication, or advising on one.
• Predicting your glucose, or promising an outcome from a meal.
• Anything about someone else’s health.

What it will do instead

Ask stays on the food side: what to eat, how to handle the week, how to make the plan fit your life. If your question was really a food question wearing medical clothing, it will usually answer the food part.

If you are unsure about your treatment, or you are not feeling right, contact your diabetes team. Bolus sits alongside the care you already have, and is not a substitute for it.
